All the hard work are indeed paying off! Philippine Airlines once again bags another award and this time, as the 2019 World's Most Improved Airline at the Airline Excellence awards by Airlineratings.com! From the time Jaime J. Bautista retook control of PAL in 2015, the airline embarked on a journey and goal to become a 5-star airline by 2020 and with that vision came major improvements from inflight services to fleet and even to systems.
Based on the Airlineratings.com, they said:
Philippine Airlines (PAL) has expanded its global footprint by more than 60 percent in recent years with innovative services such as a single-aisle A321neo flight between Manila and Brisbane and an A350-900 trans-polar route to New York.
Nor has it stinted when it comes to giving its passengers the latest product.
The four times weekly A321neo service featured the first flat-bed business product on a narrowbody aircraft operated to Australia and replaced three flights a week run by a fuel-hungry A340.
The move was part of a trend which is seeing the new breed of more extended range, single-aisle planes replace bigger aircraft on routes of up to eight hours and part of an ongoing expansion by the Filipino carrier.
Aside from the Airbus A350-900 and A321NEOs, Philippine Airlines also refurbished it's mono-class A330s into a tri-class layout which includes business, premium economy, and economy class seats all equipped with individual seatback IFEs and internet connectivity on board. Prior to this change, PAL operated 8 A330s with a mono-class 414 seat layout.
Inflight services has also greatly improved. Cabin crew training and development now revolves around "Buong Pusong Alaga" or "Whole Hearted Care" for their passengers. Emphasis is also given to the 5Ms which are basically the Filipino traits to portray what the Heart of the Filipino really is. These 5Ms are Magaling, Maalaga, Maaasahan, Magalang, at Malambing.
Last October 30, Philippine Airlines also made history by launching the world's 8th longest flight, a Manila to New York direct non-stop flight.
Airlineratings.com also said: The airline said last month other destinations being eyed as more A350 aircraft join the fleet included Seattle, Chicago and a point in Western Europe.
AirlineRatings editors said Philippine Airlines’ bold expansion plans and its commitment to a next-generation, easy product made it a stand-out for the most improved airline.
Congratulations Philippine Airlines, the 2019 Most Improved Airline! On to 5-stars and beyond!
