There are a lot of people who want to be a flight attendant and steward in the future but getting inside the airline has been a great challenge for them. Airline standards are indeed high and indeed, one has to really be the cream of the crop to be one, the best of the best. It is not easy to become a cabin crew, and we do want to help our future generation of flight attendants and stewards.

It was a normal duty day for Philippine Airlines flight attendant Mae Anne Manipud. She was one of the cabin crew on board a Philippine Airlines flight taking them Auckland, New Zealand to Manila, Philippines. During boarding, Mae assisted an 84-year old senior citizen who was travelling alone, Nanay Erlinda. The flight attendant shared a short conversation with Nanay Erlinda. Mae described Nanay Erlinda as a happy person.

A deaf Japanese passenger on board a Cebu Pacific flight went to social media to express her amazement on her flight steward's ability to communicate using Filipino Sign Language (FSL). On Mizuho Ta Jpn's Facebook page, it says, "Cebu Pacific's Airlines staff know DSL. I got on Cebu Pacific Airlines last night. I was surprised when the staff asked me 'deaf'? It was short but I enjoyed talking to him."
Thomas Cook Airlines took its last commercial flight last September 23 after the airline declared bankruptcy. After it ceased operations, this left more than 150,000 Thomas Cook passengers stranded from different areas. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) organized a repatriation effort called Project Matterhorn to bring home all stranded passengers. Thomas Cook also took part in the repatriation efforts, calling for volunteer pilots and cabin crew.

It is never too late to be a cabin crew. A study shows that from 2019 to 2036, the world will need 914,000 airline cabin crew where 881,000 are from the commercial aviation industry and 33,000 will come from the business or general aviation. Out of that number, 327,000 will come from the Asia-Pacific region. This means that we will see more Asia-Pacific based airlines hire more cabin crew 17 years from now.
A passenger shared his experience aboard a VietJet flight where flight attendants were able to stop an alleged attempt to steal his bag. The passenger named Jocen Villongco on his Facebook account warned everyone about alleged thieves on board the aircraft. A Chinese man was caught attempting to steal his bag when he shouted for help. The flight attendants were able to retrieve Villongco's belongings.

Middle East airlines like Saudia, Qatar Airways, Emirates, Etihad, FlyNas, Oman Air, and more are the biggest employers of Filipino cabin crew outside the country. In the past, these airlines would stage multiple open days and mass-hirings in the Philippines. In 2017, Qatar Airways staged around 4 or more cabin crew open days in different locations. Now, we barely hear from these airlines? What happened?
Flight attendants of a certain airline now have a new way getting passengers to obey all safety rules, and to behave in the aircraft. Instead of confronting passengers disobeying rules, they award passengers who obey rules and who have been pleasant throughout the flight! In a Facebook post by Michael James Schnieder, it says "I won best passenger award 2019."
Betty Ong was one of the flight attendants aboard American Airlines flight 11 flying from Boston Logan International Airport to Los Angeles. Then 45-year old Betty Ong chose to be assigned to flight 11 with the intent to return to Los Angeles so she can go on her vacation to Hawaii with her sister after the flight. What was supposed to be an ordinary flight ended in a tragedy last September 11, 2001 that changed the world and flying forever.
Philippine Airlines is still accepting cabin crew applicants and are still processing applications but this is for shortlisting or pooling only for the upcoming batches. What does this mean? It means that you may be called to undergo the screening process until the final stage but you will not immediately be given a start of training date should you pass the screening process.

Cabin crew members are trained to give themselves to others selflessly, without expecting anything in return. Indeed, service for others is the highest form of honor one can give to this world and flight attendants are trained exactly for that to the point that they carry this trait even outside the aircraft in their daily lives. Little did this Philippine Airlines flight steward realize that his little random act of kindness will go a long long way one day.
A mystery flight attendant suddenly became viral on social media after she was seen remaining calm not minding what was going around her while a couple quarrels on an issue we have no idea about. In the video taken by Tapiro, a couple were fighting at what seems to be in an airport. The video owner describes it as an issue which concerns the guy getting caught cheating by his wife.
Better take advantage of the last three days! Cebu Pacific will no longer be accepting walk-in applicants for cabin crew after August 30, 2019. Hence, you have three more days to proceed to the Cebu Pacific building until this Friday from 9am to 11am only to take a shot into becoming a Cebu Pacific flight attendant.
A Saudia cabin crew service van carrying flight attendants figured in an accident in Riyadh which took the life of one flight attendant as confirmed by Saudia Twitter account. Unconfirmed reports though have it that two died as a result of the accident, reporting that one is Flipina and the other is Tunisian. We still have to confirm if it is two or one. The other flight attendants on the van were reported injured.

Seventy three years ago today (July 31, 2019), Philippine Airlines took its very first transpacific flight. The flight flew from Manila to Oakland with stopovers at Guam, Johnston Atoll, and Honolulu, before landing at Oakland, California. On board the 41-hour flight were 40 US servicemen who were homesick. Taking care of them and ensuring their comfort was PAL's very first flight attendant, Ms. Rebecca Verzosa-Santos.

Cebu Pacific Still Accepts Walk-In Applicants for Cabin Crew in Manila; FA Recruitment Event in GenSan
Cebu Pacific continues to hire more cabin crew! First and foremost, their cabin crew walk-in interviews in Manila are still ongoing. This happens at the Cebu Pacific headquarters from Mondays to Fridays from 9am to 11am only. Their main office is located at Domestic Rd., Pasay City. So again, their walk-in interview/assessment are from Mondays to Fridays only except holidays!
Cebu Pacific is not over yet in hiring cabin crew members! With a new order of 31 Airbus NEO jets, they are definitely adding more capacity and perhaps, even more destination. This July 6, 2019 from 9am to 1pm at Quest Plus Conference Center, Mimosa Drive, Filinvest Mimosa + Leisure City, Clark Freeport Zone.
Last June 29, PAL Express held a cabin crew recruitment event at its Manila office. This did not only draw in 1,540 wishfulls to be a cabin crew one day, but the line was around 521 meters long approximately that it had reached the PAL cargo area very close to NAIA terminal 3 and right across the rotunda! A video taken by a sender who requested for non-disclosure of his identity showed how long the line was!

In my last meeting with Philippine Airlines President and COO Jaime J. Bautista, we did talk about the airline's goal and direction of becoming a 5-star airline. Though he did mention that becoming a 5-star carrier is indeed a very big challenge, it is very much possible for as long as forward steps are undertaken everyday, be it big or miniscule. It looks like everything is slowly paying off!
Air Asia, PAL Express, and Cebu Pacific Makes the Rankings at the Low Cost Category of Skytrax World Airline Awards
In the recent 2019 Skytrax World Airline Awards at the low-cost airline category, Air Asia was named as the World's Best Low Cost Airline while PAL Express was ranked #13! Though Air Asia's main headquarters are in Malaysia, it also has a subsidiary in the Philippines which is known as Philippines Air Asia. On the other hand, PAL Express was the former AirPhil Express being operated by Air Philippines.
Philippine Airlines is still in need of more flight attendants and stewards who can genuinely give their buong pusong alaga and ensure the safety of their passengers! Also, you may be based or domiciled either in their Manila or Cebu hub so just be ready for both. The last time PAL hired cabin crew was 2016.
