Becoming a cabin crew and donning a uniform entails a huge primary responsibility of ensuring the safety and comfort of passengers. In a recent interview with Philippine Airlines flight steward Amor Maximo, he gives us very important lessons and tips on what you have to develop and learn to become an effective cabin crew who would be able to deliver the job beyond expectations. Moreso, nothing beats the fulfillment and happiness of accomplishing what was once a dream, to be a flight attendant! When we dream of becoming a cabin crew, we dream of a long term career and lifestyle. Of course in the start, the feeling is exciting but later on, we sometimes feel "what is next". The best way to counter this is to always look into not just being a "standard" cabin crew, but to be an exceptional one, one that seeks excellence! One of the biggest mistake made by cabin crew aspirants during an interview is not being aware that they are already being observed by the recruiters the moment they step into the room or even into the building. Sometimes even before you talk during your cabin crew interview, basically recruiters already know if they will get you or not. Hence, every second counts and everything you do the moment you enter will affect your chance or getting in the airline or not.

The view on top a mountain is indeed very beautiful. When you make it to the top, it feels like you own the world. You appreciate God's creation even more. You savor the moment of being at the peak of a mountain when before, you would just look up that peak from the ground. This is what the journey of becoming a cabin crew is. The view from 40,000ft is amazing but to get inside that aircraft in a uniform will mean a lot of hardship, pain, sacrifice, dedication, and focus.
Philippine Airlines is still in very much need of more cabin crew to support its expansion like additional flights and more aircraft, hence, they are still hiring more and more flight attendants and stewards. We usually get a lot of questions and as much as possible, we try not to answer them because only PAL will be able to answer such. Now, we will do our best to answer SOME of these questions but we do recommend that you still forward your questions to PAL.
A blog post is now circulating claiming that anyone can apply in the airlines for as long as you are a high school or senior K-12 high school graduate. Allow us to be the one to tell you that this is NOT true for all airlines. Yes, some airlines do accept college undergraduates or those who were not able to complete college, but there are some who do not.
This is one question where most cabin crew applicants fail to answer properly, the question "why do you want to be a flight attendant". So we now ask you, why do you want to be a flight attendant? We can guess that most will answer with a "I want to explore new places" or "I want to travel the world" or "I want to make my family travel for free." Yes? Well did you know that that answer will cost you your chance to be a cabin crew?
The average mortality rate among cabin crew applicants worldwide is 90% up, or only less than 10% are able to make the cabin crew recruitment or interview day for various reasons. Yes, even making it through the cabin crew interview and assessment day is a huge challenge by itself brought by the stringent and high standards the airlines do impose.
There are indeed a lot of people who dream to be flight attendants and flight stewards. During the last Philippine Air Asia cabin crew recruitment event, around 1,200 applied but only around 50 were taken in. That's is less than 5% of the total number of applicants. In other airlines, the ratio is even down to 5:100 meaning, only 5 are taken in by the airline to be cabin crew out of 100. Why is it so hard to become a flight attendant?

Passing the cabin crew physical requirements is simply not enough. If you want to be a cabin crew, you have to have the traits and character of one. There are a lot of people who are tall, have clear skin, they have the correct weight to height ratio, and are fit, but yet, they do not pass the airline screening process for flight attendants. Today I'd like to share with you the biggest mistake I ever did (among many others) while applying for the Flight Attendant Job Position.
So you were notified about a cabin crew opening or a flight attendant recruitment event of some airline. Definitely this is your chance to make your cabin crew dream come true but before we go for that dream, let us first remember that this job is not for everyone, only a chosen few will make it in. So here are some reminders for you to remember or to follow that may help you in the application process.
We usually give advice on how to turn your cabin crew dream into a reality. Now let us turn the tables, let us talk about how NOT to become a flight attendant and how to keep that dream merely just a pipe dream. If we are to take this article constructively and in a positive light, we will learn that change is inevitable and that we really do have to embrace it.
It is now 2019, the start of another year. For many of our cabin crew aspirants, most are claiming already that it will be a year when they will earn their wings. For some who have gone through rejections in the past, it is a year to give things another try. To turn these claims and resolutions to finally become a cabin crew, you need to take action and you have to be hungry to earn those wings.
