Every great invention begins with a dream and a vision. Every expert was once a beginner. Every mansion begins with the first dig. Every great dish begins with a single piece of ingredient. Every flight attendant were once a cabin crew aspirant. Indeed, everyone have their own humble beginnings, and every beginning may be a time of a lot of challenges and hurdles before reaching their goals.
Let me share you a story. There was once this young boy who loved airplanes and aviation. He had this ambition of simply getting involved in the aviation industry when he grows up. He wanted to be a pilot. He wanted to operate fighter jets. He wanted to just be around airplanes and anything that got to do with aviation. As he grew, his options changed but his love for aviation was still there. In college, he wanted to own a business that has got something to do with aviation. After college, he spent 15 years going through different careers. He failed in each of them. He used to work a corporate sales job but he never enjoyed it. He only enjoyed it when the airlines were his clients because then again, he loved aviation. All else, the grown-up guy didn't like what he was doing. He even slipped into depression, fighting a battle that could cause his life. Despite everything, the dreams of this guy since childhood were unfazed. He later on placed up a business that involves the airline industry. For the first three years, everything were a failure but because this guy's heart was in his business and in aviation, he did not give-up, when when things were going from bad to worse. In 2016, his business flew and in 2017 to today, his business has helped a multitude of people and his business grew to the point of opening another brand.
Guess what, that boy in the story is me. Just like you, I was once a beginner, an aspirant to be in the aviation industry. Despite going through a lot of hurdles and failures, my eyes were on my goal of owning a business that involves the airline industry. I worked hard, I remained focused, I made changes in my life, and I kept learning from mistakes. Today, my company has two brands, Flyhigh Manila and Air Traveller PH. An aspirant yesterday, today an aviation journalist.
What am I saying here. Do not be embarrassed with where you are as an aspirant, because where you are now will lead you to your dreams of becoming a flight attendant for as long as you remain focused. We all have our humble beginnings. When you tell me "I am a cabin crew aspirant" or "I am a future cabin crew", I feel happy for you, especially when I see in you how hard you are working towards your dreams. I have met aspirants who now keep me updated on their progress. I have met once aspirants who are now flight attendants and I was able to also attend their graduations. Sadly though, I have also met cabin crew aspirants who are bound to remain aspirants forever because they do not want to learn and change. They blame their mistakes on others.
So if you say, "I am a cabin crew aspirant", be proud of it but make sure deep in your heart, you are working hard to remove the word "aspirant" and turn it into "I am a cabin crew". Today an aspirant, tomorrow a cabin crew, envision that in your hearts already. See yourself in a uniform and use that vision to work hard and to improve yourself. Hang around with people who are willing to help and cheer for you.
On your graduation day, you would be so proud to say, "Yesterday a cabin crew aspirant, today a cabin crew."
Good luck future flight attendants and stewards!
