Philippine Airlines just made history once again last October 30 after it flew it's very first direct Manila to New York flight. With that, PR126 is not only the longest straight flight from Manila in history, it is also the 8th longest flight in the world! Utilizing an Airbus A350-900, the flight took 14 hours and 51 seconds which took off from Manila at 2042H Manila time and landed in JFK International Airport, New York, at 2333H New York time.
Philippine Airlines flight 126 covers a distance of 8,520mi. It comes after Qantas's Dallas to Sydney flight which is 8,577mi and followed by United Airlines and Singapore Airlines's San Francisco to Singapore direct flight which is 8,446mi.
To make this flight even more special, Wolfgang Steakhouse prepared sumptuous dishes like Fillet Mignon and Grilled Salmon for it's business class passengers. The flight also featured it's Dine at your Leisure service where business class passengers may order any meal they want on the menu at anytime during the flight. The flight was commanded by A350 Chief Pilot Captain Emmanuel "Butch" Generoso.
The record for the world's longest flight this year is held by Singapore Airlines from Neward, New Jersey to Singapore, utilizing an Airbus A350-900ULR which covers a distance of 9,534mi. Philippine Airlines's Manila to Toronto flight is ranked 15th world's longest covering a distance of 8,221mi utilizing a Boeing 777-300ER.
