The year 2018 was indeed a great year for Philippine Airlines, a year packed with major awards and recognitions. Indeed, all their hard work and we are sure, sleepless nights, are now paying off. Just this year, the airline received a total of six major awards and recognitions, a true testament that they are indeed going for a 5th star rating and to enter into the list of the world's 10 best airlines!
Last February, Philippine Airlines achieved what many are very proud of. Our very own national carrier bearing the Philippine flag on the tail with a bright bold text font on it's fuselage that says "Philippines" was finally recognized as a 4-Star Airlines by the London-based rating company, Skytrax! Their "Get That Star" campaign did really work, and all their immense effort did pay off! It was indeed a victory for PAL and another milestone in Philippine aviation history for being the first local airline to receive such a prestigious award!
Last July Philippine Airlines received the 2nd Most Improved Airline recognition by the same rating company, Skytrax! The airline also moved 18 notches up in the list of world's 100 best airlines, from 67 in 2017 to 49 in 2018!
Philippine Airlines cemented their 4-star class airline rating when the New York based APEX or Airline Passenger Experience Association awarded the airline with a 4-Star Major Regional Airline 2019. APEX is a world-reknowned non-profit airline customer global association.
Last October, Philippine Airlines was recognized with a 7-star safety rating from AirlineRatings.com, the world's only safety and product rating company based in Australia. This means that the airlines follows the highest safety standards by the IOSA and other criteria.
Just last November, Philippine Airlines was declared by the same rating company as the World's Most Improved Airline of 2019! According to AirlineRatings.com, “Philippine Airlines has expanded its global footprint by more than 60 percent in recent years with innovative services such as a single-aisle [Airbus] A321neo flight between Manila and Brisbane and an A350-900 trans-polar route to New York.”
To make the airline's Christmas more happy, the Philippine Sports Tourism Association recognized Philippine Airlines as the "Airline of the Year" for supporting sports events in the Philippines that generated tourism.
Aside from these awards, Philippine Airlines took delivery this year of up to 15 new aircraft that includes Airbus A350-900s, Airbus A321NEOs, and Bombardier Q400NGs.
Flyhigh Manila recognizes the major role and importance of Philippine Airlines flight attendants and stewards in helping to propel the airline towards these accolades. Soon, we will go behind the scenes to show you how each PAL cabin crew are trained and moulded to become one of the company's biggest assets. Get ready as we will give you an in-depth look on the Philippine Airlines Flight Attendants and Stewards, and all these will be featured here and on our YouTube channel Flyhigh Manila TV.
Every award that Philippine Airlines received is a symbol of progress towards the ultimate goal of becoming a 5-Star airline and a major global legacy airline. More than anything else, it is also a victory for the Philippines and the Filipino people. You may notice that it does not say "Philippine Airlines" on the fueslage of PAL aircraft, instead, it says "Philippines". Why? Philippine Airlines is the Philippines, that every accolade the airline received is an award or recognition for the Philippines.
Congratulations once again Philippine Airlines! Rest assured that Flyhigh Manila will always be behind you especially your cabin crew as you go for that 5th star!
