In my last meeting with Philippine Airlines President and COO Jaime J. Bautista, we did talk about the airline's goal and direction of becoming a 5-star airline. Though he did mention that becoming a 5-star carrier is indeed a very big challenge, it is very much possible for as long as forward steps are undertaken everyday, be it big or miniscule. It looks like everything is slowly paying off!
Air Asia, PAL Express, and Cebu Pacific Makes the Rankings at the Low Cost Category of Skytrax World Airline Awards
In the recent 2019 Skytrax World Airline Awards at the low-cost airline category, Air Asia was named as the World's Best Low Cost Airline while PAL Express was ranked #13! Though Air Asia's main headquarters are in Malaysia, it also has a subsidiary in the Philippines which is known as Philippines Air Asia. On the other hand, PAL Express was the former AirPhil Express being operated by Air Philippines.
Philippine Airlines is still in need of more flight attendants and stewards who can genuinely give their buong pusong alaga and ensure the safety of their passengers! Also, you may be based or domiciled either in their Manila or Cebu hub so just be ready for both. The last time PAL hired cabin crew was 2016. We are also unsure until when this hiring will be so here is now your chance to be a cabin crew of the Philippines's only 4-star carrier, Philippine Airlines!
Incoming flights to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport experienced delays of 2 hours and beyond due to a red alert lightning warning last Sunday, June 9. A red alert lightning warning means lightning is prevailent in the area which poses great danger to the passengers and personel working at the ramp area during those moments. Ground movement for ramp personel were temporarily suspended due to the danger of lightning which may strike them.
Never ever ever crack a single bomb joke within the airport and most particularly inside an aircraft. Do not even bother to make a statement regarding a bomb as this is dealt with very seriously by authorities. It is dealt with very seriously that it can cause the Air Force to scramble fighter jets! This was exactly what happened last June 2 aboard a Scoot Airline flight from Cebu to Singapore.
Cebu Pacific is still in need of more flight attendants, hence, they are also going around to search for their next cabin crew! Well before going into details with regards to their June cabin crew recruitment schedule, we want you to note that they do still accept walk-in applicants for cabin crew from 9am to 11am, Mondays to Fridays, at the Cebu Pacific Headquarters, Domestic Rd., Pasay City.
If we can recall, Qatar Airway's last hiring in the Philippines were for females only. We do understand that there are also a lot of males who want to be a flight steward of QR but unfortunately, they were not able to join the last hiring as it was only for females. Well here is some good news and bad news. Good news is males can apply at Qatar Airways.
IPAMS, also known as the Industrial Personnel And Management Services is the only accredited recruitment agency of Saudia and the good news is that they accept walk-ins for initial screening for those who want to be a Saudia flight attendants. So yes, all you have to do is to follow all IPAMS instruction on how to apply for Saudia. Well there is another news.
It seems that PAL Express is still in need for more flight attendants, hence, they will be going around the country to hold cabin crew recruitment events. Yes, they will be going from Luzon all the way to Mindanao this months of June to July, so here is your chance to apply at PAL Express without having to go to Manila if you are all the way in the province. UPDATE: Air France flight 218 from Paris-CDG to Mumbai, India, declared an emergency and diverted to Kuwait City Airport after the crew reported smoke on board.
The aircraft was en route at FL350 over the Persian Gulf at 18:06 UTC when it initiated an emergency descent. A safe landing was carried out at 18:21 UTC. (Source: Airline-Safety.net)

In the wake of the Aeroflot 1492 incident, airlines are now more strict and firm on following their flight attendant's safety instructions. A passenger on board Air New Zealand flight NZ424 was offloaded at Wellington for refusing to obey flight attendant's instructions to watch safety video and to read the safety instructions exit row card. She was seated at an exit row seat.

An Aeroflot Sukhoi Superjet 100 crash landed at the Sheremetyevo Airport at the Russian capital of Moscow. Flight SU1492 took off around 6pm which was later hit by lightning causing problems forcing the pilots to return to the airport due to technical problems. 78 people were on board.
A Boeing 737-800 carrying 136 passengers and 7 crew members slides of the runway and ends up at the St. Johns River at the end of the runway at the Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, USA. The aircraft was a chartered flight bearing the Miami Air International livery was arriving from the Naval Station Guantanamo Bay in Cuba. Out of the 143 people on board, 21 were injured.
We just find it strange how people complain about better services, flight delays, and anything they can complain of under the sun but the very same do not know how to follow simple instructions and rules. It was indeed a very emotional moment for Saudia cabin crew as the bodies of their colleagues who were killed in the recent Sri Lanka attacks finally arrive home, at the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The bodies of Cabin crew Ahmed Zain Jaafari and Hani Maged Othman were greeted by their tearful colleagues at the King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah.
Vietnam's newest airline Bamboo Airways is now hiring flight attendants from all nationalities! With a book order of 48 Airbus A321NEO and 30 Boeing 787-9, they definitely have a large shoe to fill. So far, there is still no hiring in the Philippines but the fact that the airline is open to all nationalities, you might want to try your luck to head out to Hanoi and apply. In an overwhelming 'yes' vote, Cebu Pacific regular cabin crew members establishes the Juan Wing Association of the Philippines (JWAP) after its elections last April 1 to 5. Out of 1,135 votes cast, a resounding 1,124 voted for YES to form the union, 3 voted for NO, and 8 were spoiled ballots. Both the elections and counting were witnessed and overseen by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
Two flight attendants of Saudia Airlines remain unaccounted for after the Easter Sunday Sri Lanka blasts last April 21, 2019 which killed at least 290 people and injured 500. One flight attendant who was injured and accounted for already but the two others still remain missing and their locations are still unknown.

Flight attendants in the Philippines will soon be playing another role, and that is the role of being a pilot. The Philippine Civil Aviation Authority now requires airlines to train flight attendants to know how to land an airplane in the event that one pilot is incapacitated during mid flight. They will be tasked to assist the remaining pilot in landing the aircraft during an emergency.
Wow Air, a budget airline based in Iceland, has ceased operations after failing to secure emergency funds caused by its financial woes. This left 4,000 passengers stranded. Wow Air is the latest airline to run into financial difficulties. The airline operated services between Iceland, Europe, Asia, and North America.
