For every ending there is always a new beginning. Something that has ended in my past has allowed me to have new opportunities and challenges in my life. It wasn’t easy; but, I realized there is always a reason why things happen in the way they happened.
For every ending there is always a new beginning. Something that has ended in my past has allowed me to have new opportunities and challenges in my life. It wasn’t easy; but, I realized there is always a reason why things happen in the way they happened.

It all started with a decision to heal, let go of what is gone and start again.

It was June 29, 2017 when I tried to attend an open day recruitment for SVA. After 2 days, I was invited for a second screening and was told to wait for an email if I’ve been shortlisted to attend the Final Interview. I wasn’t confident enough if I can make it but this is a childhood dream (every girl’s dream I guess) so I just fervently prayed and asked for a sign if it’s really for me. Two days after, I received the “golden email” — an invitation for the Final Interview on July 11, 2017.

During our FI, I did my best though it’s really nerve racking. This is my time to shine and I found myself enjoying the panel interview. It was a smooth casual conversation, but still the biggest question remains (which they repeat over and over again) “If you will get hired, you’ll be away from your kids, you’ll miss their birthdays and special occasions, can you do that?”

Honestly, I’m not sure if I can do that but all I know is that it’s part of my sacrifice. That same day, we were advised on the list of successful applicants and fortunately, I was one of them. I cried and jumped for joy.

After almost 3 months of processing our application (from medical up to the FDO), by God’s perfect timing, we all started our new life as trainees here in Jeddah.

This is it, I am one step closer to my dream. Seriously, it’s easier said than done, especially when homesickness starts to set in. Many times, I would cry missing my kids, getting confused if I am doing the right thing, asking myself “Am I selfish, pursuing my dream while being away from my kids?” There are times (many times) I wanna give up and quit until there’s this one person who told me and I quote (“kung nagtratrabaho ka dyan sa ibang bansa iisipin mo ginagawa mo yan para sa mga anak mo, nagkataon lang na dream job mo din yang nakuha mo”).

And it made sense, maybe this is really God’s plan for me. Wherever I am today is no accident. It is my destiny!

After months of intensive training, weekly exams, practical exams, sleepless nights, stress and dramas, I can finally say that you are never too old to pursue your dreams and turn it into reality.

To my wonderful babies, Anya and Pico, I may not be there beside you all the time, (sorry if you can just see me thru video calls) please know that mommy loves you so much, you two are my deepest why, this is for you, I hope you’ll be proud of mommy someday.

To my family and friends, thank you for your never ending love, prayers and support.

To my squad, a big thanks for cheering me up when I’m feeling down, for boosting my confidence and for believing in me.

To my chubs, beshy wap Karen, Fatima, Ate Brilla and Kuya Denz for making my FA journey extra special and meaningful.

It may take a lot of patience, pain and struggles but it’s really amazing how God works His ways when you just believe and have faith in Him. Thank you Lord from the bottom of my heart.
Congratulations Class 31 of 2017! We did it!

I am Rose Ann Marie, 28, proud mom of two / registered nurse / licensed professional teacher.
