People want something different once in a while, its inevitable. We crave for something new because maybe we get bored doing, waiting or having the same old things. This can be applied to career, relationships, experiences and even food preferences. In this age of pop up stores, upcoming food trends and instagram worthy restaurants with a hundred and one flavors and colors, how does one stay relevant in the ever-evolving and busy food industry?
This is the question that the two new family members of Mad Mark’s Creamery And Good Eats have ventured to ask. Meet the two Mikas, co-owners of Madmark’s, Mika Alarcon and Mika Magsanoc. Besides their same names, the two ladies have something else in common as they both have experienced careers flying to different cities as flight attendants in a prestigious airline. However their story is very different from one another.
Mika Alarcon flew for 7 years before deciding to retire her wings and pursue her dream of becoming an events coordinator and stylist. Mika said that she enjoyed flying but she wanted a change of scenery and explore other opportunities. She contributes to the business of Madmarks as a consultant by boosting its presence in the market thru social media, marketing and publicity. In addition, she helps out in bookings of Madmarks ice cream cart for events like school fair, birthdays, corporate party, concerts or exhibits.
Mika Magasanoc, on the other hand is still a flight attendant for Philippines Airlines. Flying has allowed her to visit places she’s never been. It’s like you getting paid to see the Big Ben, or have a selfie with the Statue of liberty or eat takoyaki in the side streets of Japan. Aside from traveling for free, she said that she is honored that she gets to meet different kinds of people in all walks of life that makes her grounded and thankful in what she has. Since Mika travels to different places, she has the opportunity to find inspiration for new food ideas and food concept that she can share with her partners for the business.
