So you were notified about a cabin crew opening or a flight attendant recruitment event of some airline. Definitely this is your chance to make your cabin crew dream come true but before we go for that dream, let us first remember that this job is not for everyone, only a chosen few will make it in. So here are some reminders for you to remember or to follow that may help you in the application process.
  1. Check that you are within the qualifications and requirement standards before going on. Airlines are very strict when it comes to the physical requirements for flight attendants such as height, weight, clear skin, smile, and overall appearance. If they say that you have to be 5'3" in height, then they really mean that. They will definitely not adjust to your standards, you have to be the one to adjust to theirs.
  2. Follow all instructions given to you. If they did not accept you because you missed out an instruction because you did not read the airline's fine print about the cabin crew job, do not take it against the airline. If there are some parts that you do not understand, you may always ask them for some clarification but please do read every instruction they give you. Read everything from top to bottom and do not expect others to spoonfeed you without lifting a finger to read everything.
  3. When the interviewer asks you to tell them something about yourself, do not repeat whatever is already indicated in your resume. Instead, say something unique which may surprise your interviewers in a positive light.
  4. Always smile, all the time. Remember that a flight attendant's smile is part of her or his uniform.
  5. Read more about the airline you are applying at. Having indepth knowledge about the airline you are applying in will give your recruiters an impression that you are very enthusiastic and excited to be part of their inflight team and you will be an asset.
  6. Do not sound too "scripted" during the interviews. Interviewers want to see the real you, and they can tell if you are basically following a script or not. Just be natural, confident, and clear. Never memorize your "tell me something about about yourself". Talk as though you are conversing with your parents or close friends, but do not sound also too "presko" and avoid using "becky" words as much as possible. Sound professional no matter what.
  7. Follow the KISS rule or Keep It Short and Straightforward. Do not bore your interviewers. Make eye contact too when you talk to them. You have 12 seconds to get your interviewer's attention and to make an impact.
  8. Be confident but do not sound too cocky. Be humble too but not too "pala-awa" during your interview.
  9. Learn from your mistakes. Most of the time, airline recruiters will not tell you why you were not accepted. Do not take it against them and do not expect them to tell you what went wrong. Assess yourself and try to ask present cabin crew members to help you disect where you went wrong. Get advice and then try again.
  10. Practice answering interview questions infront of a mirror or a cabin crew friend. Do a mock interview. Here are some 35 mock questions that airline recruiters sometimes use. You may use these to practice.
